Professional introduction
Cartography and geographic information system are developed on the basis of cartography and belong to two disciplines, one is the first-class discipline under scientific geography. With the development of information technology, knowledge engineering and computer and communication technology, cartography and geographic information system have gradually become the important technical support of various sectors of the national economy, such as resources and environment, urban and regional planning and management, land use and management, water conservancy and hydropower, transportation and civil engineering, and play an increasingly important role in the sustainable development of the national economy. According to the latest research achievements, development trends and related technical application requirements of cartography, remote sensing and geographic information system at home and abroad, this major has set up research directions such as resource and environmental information system, geospatial and geographical process simulation, network GIS, cartography, etc. The training links include course study, teaching practice, academic activities, scientific research, system development, degree thesis and so on.
