What's the difference between the Provincial People's Congress Education Committee and the Provincial Education Committee?
The provincial (municipality directly under the Central Government) Education Working Committee is an agency dispatched by the provincial party committee, generally co-located with the provincial education department, and is responsible for supervising the implementation of the major line, principles and policies of the provincial party committee and the provincial government in the field of education, and for the party work of the central government in provincial (city) colleges and universities. The Education Working Committee belongs to the direct leadership of the provincial party committee, and the Education Department belongs to the provincial government. Both of them are at the main hall level, but the proportion of secretaries of education committees in some provinces and cities, such as Beijing, Tianjin and Yunnan, is relatively high. The secretaries of education committees in Shanghai and Chongqing are all bureau-level.
