Shandong University, a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, is a national key construction institution of "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", and has been selected into "1Plan", "Everest Plan", "Education and Training Plan for Outstanding Engineers" and "Education and Training Plan for Outstanding Legal Talents".

It was founded in the 27th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 190 1), formerly known as Shandong University Hall. "There is no end to learning", refer to Fang Shudong's "General Theory of Five Ancient Books of Zhao Wei and Zhan Yan": "There is no end to learning and no end to Tao." Learning here not only refers to the pursuit of knowledge and skills, but also includes the pursuit of moral sentiment and spiritual realm.

"Qi is a noble person", from Mencius' Gongsun Chou: "I know what I say, and I am good at raising my noble spirit." The so-called noble spirit is the upright spirit created by great righteousness and virtue, which embodies the noble character of "wealth can't be lewd, poverty can't be moved, and powerful people can't bend" that Mencius refers to.
