On September 9th, 1999, the School of Primary Education of Capital Normal University was formally established. Previously, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the First Normal University invested a lot of money to build and rebuild the teaching facilities of the Junior Education Institute. The School of Education attached to the First Normal University has 6 computer rooms, equipped with more than 280 computers, 3 multimedia classrooms, 3 language labs, 2 audio-visual rooms, 2 microcomputer classrooms, and also equipped with advanced psychological observation rooms and psychological laboratories. At present, the college is preparing to move to the newly-built East Campus of Capital Normal University. The college has a team of teachers with reasonable age structure, solid professional foundation, rich teaching experience and considerable research on primary education. Among them, 74 are full-time and part-time teachers with senior titles, accounting for more than 50% of the total number of teachers.
The primary education research institute of the First Normal University aims at understanding primary schools, researching primary schools and serving primary schools. In accordance with the requirements of "all-round training" and "multi-skills in one specialty", we will train backbone teachers with undergraduate education who have all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, beauty and labor, have professional knowledge and skills in primary education, can engage in primary education, teaching and research, and have modern educational concepts. While cultivating a solid professional theoretical foundation, it emphasizes the cultivation of learning ability, innovation ability and practical ability to meet the requirements of basic education reform and quality education development.
The School of Primary Education of the First Normal University also shoulders the task of continuing education for primary school teachers in Beijing. For primary school teachers, it is in line with the needs of this social development and the strong desire of the majority of primary school educators to develop themselves, constantly temper and improve.
