Except Siming Primary School, all schools in Xiamen Island use the nine-year compulsory education textbook published by People's Education Commission.

In the lower grades, the teaching version focuses on the comprehensive Chinese enlightenment education for students, while the middle and high grades are committed to comprehensively improving students' Chinese literacy. In the arrangement, avoid triviality, simplify clues, highlight key points and strengthen integration. Starting from the second volume of senior one, the teaching materials are organized by topics and integrated. Each volume has eight topics, which are divided into eight groups. The connotation of each topic is relatively broad, close to children's life, reflecting the characteristics of the times, containing educational value, and integrating knowledge, ability, methods and emotions.
