Generally speaking, British education is divided into three stages: compulsory education, continuing education and higher education.
The British education system is generally divided into five stages:
First stage
Kindergarten education for 3-5 years old;
stage Ⅱ
5- 1 1 year-old primary education;
The third stage
Technical secondary school education 1 1 year-old-16 years old;
5 years old-16 years old is the compulsory education stage stipulated by law. School-age children must go to school, and the state is responsible for the necessary tuition fees, books and necessary supplies.
The fourth stage
16 years old-18 years old is a senior middle school class (or college preparatory class), which is a transitional period from middle school to university, also known as the stage of continuing education, mainly studying academic and career directions.
Students who have completed the preparatory courses mainly take the advanced level (abbreviated as GCE-A level), while students in vocational and technical schools take the GCE-A level examination in addition to the national vocational qualification examination (abbreviated as GNVQ).
The fifth stage
University education.
Generally speaking, from the age of 18, it takes 3 -4 years (5 years of medicine) to study for an undergraduate course and get a bachelor's degree. The master's degree is usually 1 -2 years, and the doctoral degree is 3 -5 years.
