The major of electrical engineering and automation was established in 2008, and full-time undergraduate students are recruited nationwide, and continuous training is maintained. In 20 19, this major was approved as a provincial first-class undergraduate construction site. In 2020, the application for professional certification of engineering education was accepted, and in 20021,the self-evaluation report of professional certification was submitted for experts to enter the school.

At present, there is a team of teachers with reasonable age and title structure, high academic level and teaching ability. Main courses: circuit, analog electronic technology foundation, digital electronic technology foundation, automatic control theory, single chip microcomputer principle and application, PLC principle and application, electrical engineering, power electronics technology, power system analysis, power supply technology, power system relay protection, high voltage technology, smart grid technology, new energy power generation technology, etc.

Henan Electrical Engineering and Automation Experimental Demonstration Teaching Center and Luoyang Institute of Technology Virtual Simulation Experimental Center are specially set up, and there are seven professional laboratories, including motor drive, power electronics technology, integrated automation of power system, relay protection of power system, power supply and demand technology, wind-solar hybrid power generation and high voltage virtual simulation.

In addition, it has established off-campus practice bases with Luoyang Power Supply Company, Luoyang Electric Power Design Institute, Luoyang Tongniu Transformer Co., Ltd., Datang Power Generation Group Henan Branch and other well-known enterprises, which has provided good support for the cultivation of applied talents.
