Founded in 1993, the College is one of the earliest institutions in China to independently organize higher vocational and technical education. In 2000 and 2004, the former Shenzhen Vocational and Technical School and Shenzhen Health School were merged into shenzhen polytechnic respectively. In 2006, shenzhen polytechnic was identified as the first batch of national model higher vocational colleges. In 2009, the school passed the acceptance test and became the first batch of national demonstration higher vocational colleges.

Guangzhou Panyu Vocational and Technical College, located in Panyu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is a full-time public university. It is the first batch of national demonstration higher vocational colleges, the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units in China, the demonstration higher vocational colleges in Guangdong Province, and the leading higher vocational education institution in Guangzhou.
