British undergraduate admission model
In the UK, students enter universities according to A-Level, IB and UK university entrance examination results, and take shortcut courses, as follows:
1.A-Level and IB are somewhat similar to domestic high schools, and the time is generally 2 years. At the end of the course, you have to take a unified exam, apply for conditional admission to the university with your grades, and provide the final grades after graduation in exchange for unconditional admission.
The preparatory period in Britain is one year. Similarly, after the completion of the course, you can apply for accreditation of the corresponding universities with relevant foundations. The minimum qualification standard for british foundation is Senior Two in China.
3. Shortcut courses or first-year diploma courses provided by British universities or cooperative education groups are popular admission methods in recent years. It can save one year of preparation time. The study time is reasonable, and China high school graduates are directly promoted to freshmen; The admission requirements for directly entering the university are relatively low (after finishing the third year of China, the average score is usually above 80); You can apply without IELTS scores, and you need to learn English for about 3 ~ 9 months before the main course begins; After the course, I will directly enter the second year of college.
In Britain, there is no "single-plank bridge" that China students are familiar with-the college entrance examination. Students enter the university on the basis of A-Level, IB, British university entrance examination results, and taking a shortcut course in the university, as follows:

However, the problem with the shortcut course is that the top schools in 10 don't offer this kind of shortcut course directly, so the graduates who can't accept the shortcut course go straight to the sophomore year. Students who want to enter Oxford and Cambridge also need to take A-LEVEL or IB to apply for admission.
China students who want to directly enter the first year of G5 (Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, London School of Economics and Political Science) universities in the UK must apply for going abroad when they are studying or graduating from high school, and study A-Level or IB (International Bachelor's Degree) courses in the UK. The top public universities in Britain accept students who graduated from these two courses. Students who have graduated from senior two or senior high school must study in Britain for one year before they can enter British universities.
According to the different preparatory courses, it is generally divided into one-to-one preparatory courses and one-to-many preparatory courses. One-on-one preparatory courses are generally aimed at entering a fixed university. One-to-many preparatory courses need to apply on UCAS during their study, and they can apply to five different schools according to their own grades. Theoretically, all universities in Britain accept matriculation students except Oxford and Cambridge, but the proportion of students admitted is very small.
Generally, domestic high school graduates cannot directly enter British universities. Only a few universities that are not in the top 30 are taught in English in domestic high schools, and students with IELTS score of 6.5 or above will be promoted directly to freshman.
