Time flies when you trudge hard. Huaihua University is located in Huaihua City, Hunan Province, which is the thoroughfare of five provinces. This is a beautiful place in Xuefeng Mountain. Shuihe Shenyun is an applied local undergraduate college which is the "Pearl of Southwest China". The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as Qianyang Teachers College. 1982, the former Hunan Agricultural College Qianyang Branch was merged into the school. 1983 was renamed Huaihua Teachers College, and 1998 provided undergraduate education. In 2000, Qianyang Teachers College was integrated into the school.

In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to a full-time undergraduate college and renamed huaihua university.
