Introduction to Rongcheng
Fuzhou, referred to as banyan for short, is the capital of Fujian. Fuzhou is located in the lower reaches of Minjiang River and the eastern coastal area of Fujian Province. It now governs 5 districts, 2 counties, 6 cities and 6 counties, with a total resident population of 7.2 million, including 2.963 million in urban areas. The local residents are mainly the Fuzhou ethnic group of Han nationality, and their mother tongue is Fuzhou dialect in eastern Fujian. Fuzhou was founded in 202 BC and has a history of more than 2,200 years as a national historical and cultural city. As the political center of Fujian for a long time in history, it is not only an important trading port along the southeast coast of China and the gateway to the Maritime Silk Road, but also an important cultural center. Since the Song Dynasty, its culture and education have been very developed, and it is one of the cities in China with the largest number of scholars, top scholars and academicians of the two academies. In modern history, it was one of the first five cities in China to open trade, and it was also one of the cradles of modern navy and industrial technology in China. The customs, culture, traditional arts and architectural forms here all have their own styles and strong regional characteristics. Fuzhou is also the ancestral home of more than 3 million overseas Chinese and the main hometown of overseas Chinese in Fujian.
