Xiangjiang Academy is located in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province, formerly known as Lianxi Academy. In the sixth year of the Song Dynasty (1 170), Zhou Shunyuan built a shrine to worship Zhou Dunyi in Qujiang County under the state administration. In the tenth year of Xichun (1 183), Professor Liao Deming gave extra classes, and Yang Dayi was sentenced in Xichun and rebuilt at the foot of Maofeng Mountain. In the second year of Bao You (1254), Wu Sui was sentenced to court, and Zhao Yun was awarded "Xiangjiang Academy". Xian Chun was destroyed by war in the late spring and rebuilt between Yuan Shun and Yuan Shun. Later, in the second year of Yuan Dynasty (1336), it was destroyed by soldiers. Xu Bingwen, the magistrate of Shaozhou, was rebuilt in the early years of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, and Jin Lanyuan, the magistrate of Nanshao Road, was rebuilt in the 19th year of Jiaqing (18 14) and Daoguang Road (1828). Xianfeng was destroyed by fire in the fourth year (1854). In the sixth year, Qujiang county magistrate and gentlemen raised funds to rebuild. In the thirty-second year of Guangxu (1906), Liu Yi Counseling College was formally established in Shaozhou, which worked in Xiangjiang Academy and opened the Department of Education Management. The history of Xiangjiang Academy ended. The other three are Fanshan Academy in Guangzhou, Yushan Academy in Huizhou and Hufeng Academy.

From Lianxi Academy to Xiangjiang Academy, after more than 800 years of history, Shaozhou, a thousand-year-old university, is in the same strain and is famous in history. It has trained many talents for northern Guangdong. According to the Records of Shaoguan Education, among the eight counties in northern Guangdong (Qujiang, Lechang, Renhua, Ruyuan, Wengyuan, Yingde, Nanxiong and Shixing) in the Song Dynasty alone, 88 people entered the imperial examination, 325 people entered the imperial examination, 20 people thanked the garden in the middle, and 406 people were all kinds of tribute students. It can be seen that the educational achievements of this ancient academy in Shaozhou are fruitful and worthwhile.
