According to the Notice of the National Defense Education Office, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and other nine ministries and commissions of the central and state organs on organizing the theme education activities for the 90th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army in China, it is required to hold a theme speech contest on "Love my national defense" in universities all over the country.

The contest was hosted by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the National Defense Education Office, the Central Network Information Office, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Women's Federation.
