Henan Industrial Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1973. It is an ordinary institution of higher learning directly under the People's Government of Henan Province, a national backbone vocational college and a demonstration vocational college in Henan Province. The College has successively been affiliated to the Fifth Ministry of Machinery Industry, Ordnance Industry, Machinery Industry Committee, Machinery and Electronics Industry, Ordnance Industry Corporation and Henan Provincial People's Government.

The planned land area of the college is 126 1.86 mu, the building area is 539,800 square meters, the total fixed assets is 7140,000 yuan, and the full-time students are19,000. At present, there are 14 teaching units, including mechanical engineering college, mechanical and electrical automation college, automobile engineering college, urban construction college, economic management college, electronic and information engineering college, environmental engineering department, applied foreign languages and international education department, continuing education college, basic science teaching department, social science teaching department, sports department, art education center and college students' mental health education center.
