What does a ruler mean?
Ruler is a traditional educational tool, which is used to educate children to obey rules, discipline and study hard. The main function of ruler is to punish children's wrong behavior through slight corporal punishment, thus educating children to understand the importance of rules and self-discipline.

However, with the progress of society and the change of educational concept, rulers are gradually eliminated, and people begin to pay more attention to scientific education and guidance for children in order to cultivate their self-awareness and self-management ability. Therefore, in modern education, the ruler is no longer a common educational tool.

Operating steps:

1. Determine the reason and purpose of using a ruler. Before using a ruler, parents or teachers need to clearly understand the child's wrong behavior and determine the reason and purpose of using a ruler. Rulers are only educational tools and cannot be abused or misused.

2. Choose the right ruler. The material and size of the ruler should be suitable for the child's age and physical condition. Generally speaking, rulers should be made of smooth wood or plastic with moderate hardness, and the length should not exceed 50 cm.

3. Use the right method. Parents or teachers should pay attention to the following points when using a ruler:

-Don't use a ruler that is too big or too hard, so as not to harm children's health;

-Don't use the ruler excessively, so as not to cause children's disgust and bad mood;

-Don't use a ruler on the child's face or sensitive parts, so as not to cause pain and injury to the child.

4. Combine with other educational methods. Ruler is only an educational tool and cannot replace other educational methods. When parents or teachers use rulers, they need to combine other educational methods, such as speech guidance, encouragement and so on, in order to achieve better educational results.
