Shaoyang Vocational and Technical College is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning approved by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education. The college is located in Meizijing in the south of Shaoyang City, with convenient transportation and pleasant environment. The campus covers an area of more than 680 mu, with a building area of 2 1 1,000 square meters. More than 7000 full-time students.
The college has five departments, namely, Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Department of Finance and Trade, Department of Public Affairs Management, Department of Computer and Information Technology, Department of Biological Engineering and Department of Continuing Education. There are 24 specialties and 26 technical secondary schools. There are 354 faculty members and 239 full-time teachers, including 57 associate professors, 8 doctoral and master students/kloc-0, and 52 double-qualified teachers. With the approval of the Provincial Department of Education, in 2006, the Ministry of Technical Secondary Schools continued to recruit full-time technical secondary school students for junior high school graduates in addition to the national 17 provinces (cities).
