How does Weiner's attribution theory explain motivation? What is the educational significance of the dynamic model of motivation attribution?
(1) For the explanation of motivation in Weiner's attribution theory, please refer to the review notes in this chapter.

(2) The educational significance of the dynamic model of motivation attribution.

① According to students' self-attribution, their learning motivation can be predicted.

According to Weiner's three-dimensional attribution style, we can not only understand each student's attribution tendency to the success or failure of his own learning results, but also predict his future learning motivation.

② Although students' self-attribution is not necessarily correct, it is very important.

Because ordinary students don't know much about their abilities and surrounding environment, it is inevitable that they will be influenced by subjective factors and make incorrect attribution when attributing success or failure. From the perspective of students' psychological counseling, it is very important whether students' self-attribution is correct or not. Because it is one of the purposes of education to urge students to establish a clear self-concept and promote their growth in the process from knowing themselves to knowing others. And if students have incorrect attribution, it means that they need the guidance and help of teachers.

③ Long-term negative attribution is not conducive to students' personality growth.

Students have positive and negative self-attribution tendencies. Students who take success or failure as their own responsibility are more active. Those who attribute their failure to their own incompetence or other external factors are more negative. Long-term negative attribution will make students feel learned helplessness and make them give up the idea of hard work. Therefore, students should be instructed to make more positive attribution.

④ Teachers' feedback is an important factor affecting students' attribution.

Weiner found that in the teaching process of teacher-student interaction, students' attribution of their success or failure is not entirely based on their test scores, but is influenced by teachers' feedback on his performance. For some students who lack self-confidence and rely on personality, it is probably more effective than other methods to give encouragement and support in feedback if they want to keep learning motivation.
