What is your understanding of Confucius and his thoughts through The Analects of Confucius?
This is part of my thesis, and the translation is taken from the Analects of Confucius by Yang Bojun. You can learn from it:

Confucius said:' A gentleman has Jiu Si: he thinks clearly, listens attentively, looks warmly, looks respectfully, speaks loyally, respects things, asks doubtful questions and feels resentful, which is what he sees.' "( 16. 10

p 175)

Confucius said, "A gentleman has nine considerations: when reading, consider whether he understands; When listening, consider whether you have heard clearly; The color of the face, consider tenderness; Appearance and attitude, consider Zhuang Yi; What you said, consider loyalty and honesty; Take work seriously; When in doubt, consider how to ask others for advice; Will be angry, consider what future trouble; See what is available and consider whether I should get it. "

This paper analyzes and summarizes "Jiu Si" as follows:

(1) "Look and think, listen and think" → Distinguish right from wrong → Wisdom.

(2) "color is gentle" → broad-minded, calm → kind.

(3) "Look respectful" → respect and modesty → humiliation → politeness.

(4) "keep your word" → learn to speak, match words with deeds → believe.

⑤ "respect things" → be serious and responsible for things → be loyal → be polite.

⑥ "Questioning in Doubt" → Curiosity, Learning to Ask Questions → Bo.

⑦ "Think twice before you act" → Think twice before you act → Be cautious (in words and deeds).

8 "Seeing is believing" → Meaning

According to the above analysis, "Jiu Si" can be summarized by these eight words: wisdom, benevolence, stupidity, faith, loyalty, doubt, prudence and righteousness. Because "Xun" and "Zhong" can represent the hierarchical system of feudal ethics and "Li" respectively, this paper classifies them as "Li"; "Doubt" is a sign of studiousness and a way to make blog posts widely known. Therefore, this paper classifies it as "Bo". Taken together, this paper holds that "Jiu Si" embodies the seven gentleman standards of "wisdom, benevolence, courtesy, faithfulness, erudition, prudence and righteousness".
