The school has a history of thousands of years and studies in No.1 Middle School. The school was founded in the seventh year of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1494). Chen Xuan, the magistrate of Yiling County, built the "Mo Chi Bookstore" in memory of Guo Pu, a writer in Jin Dynasty. It is said that the name "Mo Chi" was obtained by Guo Pu and later Su Shi and Huang Tingjian washing inkstones here.
Its address is in the east of Yiling City (now Mo Chi Lane, Renmin Road, Xiling District, Yichang City). During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Li Yidi, the magistrate of Yiling, built the "June 1st Academy" and incorporated the "Mo Chi Bookstore" into it. Later, the two schools were separated and merged several times. In the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, Zong Sisheng, the magistrate of Yiling, "revived learning in the government" and realized the final unification of "house" and "courtyard", which was called "Mochi Academy".
