There are two main ways of hydroponics: hydroponics and substrate cultivation.
Hydroponics takes water as the cultivation substrate, and the roots of flowers are directly soaked in water (nutrient solution). This cultivation method can clearly see the roots of flowers and is easily accepted by families. However, hydroponics is prone to problems such as insufficient oxygen and rotten roots, and sometimes it is difficult to fix the posture of plants in containers.
Substrate cultivation takes solid materials as substrate, and nutrient solution provides water and nutrients. Flowers are planted in soilless substrates. Common substrate cultivation includes sand culture and ceramsite cultivation. Substrate cultivation is easy to succeed, so beginners may wish to start with substrate cultivation and carry out soilless cultivation of flowers.
2. Obtain hydroponic plants
There are two ways to obtain hydroponic flowers and plants. First, the root washing method is called root washing method. The second kind, pruning, rooting in water and then cultivating in water, is called water insertion method.
Root washing method is suitable for flowers that are easy to water. After watering, its roots can easily adapt to the water environment and will not rot, such as Zhu Dinghong and bergamot.
Water insertion method is suitable for flowers whose roots are not suitable for water environment. Even if these flowers are washed and watered, their old roots will rot and they must grow new roots to adapt to the water environment. Therefore, direct cutting in water is adopted, and new roots adapted to water environment, such as bamboo and banana, equisetum and so on, are grown in water before hydroponics.
