Zhengzhou, referred to as "Zheng" for short, was called "in heaven and earth" in history, called Shangdu in ancient times, and now called Greentown. Henan Province governs prefecture-level cities, provincial capitals and megacities to promote the rise of central China. The 13th Five-Year Plan explicitly supports the construction of a national central city.
Zhengzhou City is located in the north-central part of Henan Province, at the boundary of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, with a total area of 7,567 square kilometers. The general trend of Zhengzhou's topography is high in the southwest and low in the northeast, which belongs to temperate continental monsoon climate. There are large and small rivers 124 in Zhengzhou, which span the Yellow River and Huaihe River basins. By the end of 2022, the permanent population of Zhengzhou was12.828 million.
