The School of International Relations of Sichuan University is an important base for training senior professionals in related fields, conducting research on international issues and promoting international exchanges and cooperation. At present, the College has the Department of International Politics, as well as China South Asia Research Center (the national high-end think tank cultivation unit) and South Asia Research Institute (the key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education and the national and regional research and cultivation base of the Ministry of Education).

China think tank index (CTTI) is the first batch of source think tanks, the top 100 A+ think tanks in China universities, the European Union Research Center (the national and regional research and cultivation base of the Ministry of Education and the "Jean-Monet" Best European Research Center), the American Research Center (the national and regional research and cultivation base of the Ministry of Education), and the Polish and Central and Eastern European Research Center (the national and regional research and filing base of the Ministry of Education).

Contemporary Russian Research Center (under the framework of Sino-Russian humanities cooperation mechanism of the Ministry of Education), Eurasian Research Center (the "Belt and Road" national and regional research center of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission) and Pakistan Research Center (jointly established with the Pakistani government).

China Western Frontier Security and Development Collaborative Innovation Center (the first source think tank of China think tank index (CTTI) and the top 100 A-level think tanks of China universities), Sichuan University-Chengdu "Belt and Road" collaborative innovation research center for education, Sichuan University "Belt and Road" research institute and other research institutions.
