Hunan Provincial Department of Education is a component of Hunan Provincial People's Government, located at No.238, Section 2, East Second Ring Road, Changsha City, Hunan Province. To implement the laws and regulations of the state on education, draft local education regulations, formulate strategies, principles, policies and plans for education reform and development in this province, and organize their implementation.

To undertake the specific work of the provincial education leading group, organize and study the party building and ideological and political construction policies, the strategic plan for education development, and the major reform plan in the province's education field, and coordinate and supervise the implementation of the decisions, work arrangements and requirements of the provincial education leading group. Responsible for the overall planning and coordinated management of all levels and types of education.

In conjunction with relevant departments, formulate standards for the establishment of schools at all levels, guide the education and teaching reform of schools at all levels, and be responsible for the statistics, analysis and release of basic education information. Responsible for promoting the balanced development of compulsory education and promoting educational equity, and responsible for the macro guidance and coordination of compulsory education; Guide general high school education, preschool education and special education.

Formulate basic requirements and teaching documents for basic education, organize the examination and approval of local textbooks for basic education and entrust national textbooks, and fully implement quality education. Guide the development and reform of employment-oriented vocational education, formulate teaching guidance documents and teaching evaluation standards, and guide the construction of teaching materials and vocational guidance for secondary vocational education.

Internal organization:

1, the office is responsible for the daily work of message, conference, confidential, archives, finance, asset management and other organs; To undertake information, confidentiality, letters and visits, news propaganda, government affairs disclosure and other work; To guide the archives and confidentiality work of institutions of higher learning; Guide universities to formulate language planning and implementation measures; Guide the promotion of Putonghua and manage the training and testing of Putonghua; Guide the standardization of school and social writing.

2. The Department of Policies and Regulations guides the research and pilot work on the reform of education management system, school-running system and school internal management system; To study the educational reform and development strategy and conduct policy research on major issues; To draft relevant local laws and regulations; To undertake the legal system construction and administration according to law in the education system; To undertake relevant administrative reconsideration and administrative litigation.
