According to legend, during the Three Kingdoms period, Cao Wei led 800,000 troops to attack Wu Dong and stationed troops on a large scale in Hefei. When they set up camp, there were countless troops. In order to count the troops, this dry pond was dug up as a place to measure soldiers, hence the name "Hu Bingchi".
