Dewey believes that the best education is "learning from life" and "learning from experience". He believes: "Our social life is undergoing radical and fundamental changes. If our education must have any meaning to life, then it must undergo corresponding radical changes. " Education should provide sufficient living environment and conditions for children, that is, education is the process of life and school is a form of children's life.
Second, Dewey opposes the suppression of children's instinctive growth by traditional education. He pointed out: "growth is the characteristic of life, so education is growth;" There is no other purpose outside itself. " The first condition for growth is immaturity. Education should follow the objective laws of children's physical and mental development, respect the opportunities and needs of children's growth, and attach importance to the internal process of children's growth. Dewey believes that children have four instincts: language and social interaction, production, research and exploration, and art. Children's abilities, interests and habits are all based on children's primitive instincts, and children's growth and development is the process of primitive instinct growth.
