Family education has many definitions. It is generally believed that family education refers to a social activity in which parents intentionally exert certain educational influence on their children in their daily lives through words and deeds, lifestyles and emotional exchanges, and then family members influence each other for life.

In the definitions given by different experts, family education includes the following elements:

Happened in family life; Education and influence from the old to the young (narrow sense); Purposeful and conscious influence between the old and the young (in a broad sense); Centering on parent-child relationship; Cultivate people in need of society; Parents' own behavior plays a decisive role in educating their children; Family education is lifelong education.

The Family Education Law of Taiwan Province Province clearly stipulates that the connotation of family education includes: parenting education, children education, ethics education, family resources and management education.

Family Education from Multidimensional Perspective

1. From the perspective of the new era, the goal of family education should be matched with social change, national strategic goals, changes in growth and educational environment, and social requirements for talent ability and core literacy, and family education should be promoted with new ideas and methods.

2. From the perspective of traditional family education, the Chinese nation has attached importance to family education since ancient times, and the fundamental task of family education is to educate people and put morality first. The family instructions, rules and letters of the ancients provided rich and distinctive family education methods for future generations.
