Parents will not be convicted and punished because their children are unwilling to study. However, if the parents or other legal guardians of school-age children and adolescents fail to send them to compulsory education in accordance with the provisions of this Law without justifiable reasons, the education administrative department of the local township people's government or the people's government at the county level shall give criticism and education and order them to make corrections within a time limit.

Legal basis: Article 58 of the Compulsory Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), if parents or other legal guardians of school-age children and adolescents fail to send them to compulsory education in accordance with the provisions of this law without justifiable reasons, the education administrative department of the local township people's government or the county-level people's government shall give criticism and education and order them to make corrections within a time limit.
