Contemporary position
One: young and potential,
Secondly, the artistic features of aestheticism and realism,
Oil painting is realistic and exquisite, with beauty in Jing Ya and unique conception, which is favored by many art collection groups and art institutions. Chinese painting inherits the classics, develops and innovates, inherits the strengths of Song and Yuan painting, realizes the painting spirit of Ming and Qing dynasties, and blends into modern new painting.
Third, literary and artistic accomplishment,
Influenced by the strong artistic atmosphere, I was deeply impressed by literature, music, opera and other arts, and devoted myself to studying traditional culture, calligraphy, poetry and seal cutting.
Four: the combination of Chinese and western,
In other words, there is the concept of western painting without losing the essence of Chinese painting. The west serves China and the art is compatible.
Works review
Seeing an oil painting on canvas by Hua Chaofeng really shocked me. A young girl sat quietly, saying nothing, and her big eyes were filled with tranquility that was not in line with her age. The name of this painting is Silent Youth. Silent youth is still wanton youth. And as time goes by, suddenly people are old. Do the elderly still need language?
In my city, time flies and the days never stop. Often when I want to think about something, I am too tired to sleep. This is survival. I watched quietly, but I was deeply involved.
Every day after work, I like to take a walk, watch the scenery on the roadside, watch the people in a hurry and watch the roaring traffic. There seems to be a kind of loneliness in a brightly lit place. The way is unknown, the reason is unknown, and there is nowhere to say. This is a feeling of a foreign land.
All kinds of people struggle at the bottom in their unique way, longing for the light at the top. This is a group of hopeful people.
I saw the young trees on the roadside spit out green buds, as gloomy as usual, but it was a tender life. At this moment in the south, it is time for the long grass warbler to fly, right? Too much happy-go-lucky, let me less local complex. The smell of spring has spread all over the country, and the breeze brings the fragrance of apricot flowers. What hasn't broken through the fence yet?
Spring has arrived. Flowers are in full bloom. Youth is also a flower. Flowers have a flowering period, and flowers have a flower posture. I am very willing to be a sweet-scented osmanthus, which will bloom at some time in gorgeous autumn.
An ordinary day. Reminds me of that beautiful spring night.
Time goes by, only now can stay.
Thank you. Thanks for all this.
Solo Exhibitions
Hua Chaofeng's solo exhibition began in 2002 when he participated in the China Art Fair, and he participated in different exhibitions every year, including competition exhibitions and solo exhibitions. In 2003, he participated in the exhibition of works of young and middle-aged artists in China on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Venezuela. Three works, including The Hunter, were collected by the Venezuelan Embassy, and the online exhibition was updated regularly. As a professional painter, his works with different themes come out every year. He is also a diligent and prolific painter. Not only engaged in oil painting creation, but also has a distinct personal style in Chinese painting creation. He is unique in his figurative aesthetic, innovative and elegant painting style, and also has his own research and application in watercolor painting and comprehensive materials. Hua Chaofeng studied environmental art and arts and crafts in the art school in his early years, so he fully demonstrated the beauty of color, composition, perspective and craftsmanship in a set of arts and crafts in his paintings, making each of his works very clean.
Personal anthology
The so-called "three images in one" theory of new Chinese painting is Mr. Shi Qi's artistic idea. His works are unique among many artistic styles and make people shine. Today, every painter is trying to explore and innovate, and the development of new Chinese painting is slow. This is what it has always wanted to change. Therefore, in recent years, young painters with new strength have been recruited to accomplish this innovative task together. It is not easy to make a breakthrough in art. How many painters have worked hard for it? Art is an individualistic profession, which can only convey meaning, but cannot be shaped. How to understand this new word and integrate the history of eastern and western art development? Chinese painting has not encountered the same crisis as oil painting. In other words, the innovation of Chinese painting is still based on the innovation in the traditional sense, seeking change without leaving. Concreteness, impression and abstraction all come from western painting language. It is not uncommon to explain the connotation of Chinese painting with western painting language. Both Xu Beihong and Lin Fengmian tried to introduce it into Chinese painting, so can they surpass it again? In fact, it depends on the artist's own literacy and sentiment. We don't need to study western painting in depth, which is also the relationship between subjectivity and inferiority. When someone questions whether it is still Chinese painting, in fact, exploration and practice have proved that there is no need to argue about this topic. New nature means different. There is no right or wrong in art, and so is heavy color painting. Dare to innovate and break through is the only way for the development of Chinese painting. Diversified artistic development has broken the original dogmatic theory. We don't say whether anti-tradition is correct, but any kind of innovation is based on tradition. The concept of new Chinese painting is worth studying and learning, but whether it is worth imitating or not, I think it varies from person to person. As Mr. Qi Baishi said, learning from us is an enemy, and the theoretical opinions of the masters bring us enlightenment. How to open our minds through such teaching is a problem we should think about. On the issue of techniques, Mr. Shi Qi also said that the road of new Chinese painting is very difficult, which requires calligraphy, craftsmanship, meticulous brushwork and the author's own temperament and self-restraint. These are actually just explaining that a problem is perception. Only when you have realized it can you practice it, or realize it in practice. Not everyone can do this. Art still needs a certain talent. The theory of new Chinese painting was advocated by Mr. Shi Qi, but it should be recreated by more practitioners to create their own new Chinese paintings.
Artistic edification
Besides studying painting, I lived in an artistic atmosphere every day during my years in an art school. The art school itself is a comprehensive school, including sister arts such as art, drama, music, drama and dance. Here, I am moved by the feelings of various art forms every day, and the influence of art is a subtle process. You don't have to study an art yourself, and you can gradually understand your usual feelings. The more you look at it, the more natural you feel, and art education is similar to this. One can't learn many kinds of arts. As long as there is such an opportunity to contact and appreciate art, we can cultivate everyone's artistic appreciation level and aesthetic taste, which is also the purpose of improving artistic quality education. Although I can't sing and dance in drama, I will appreciate or know how to appreciate art, and sister art has something in common. If you want to improve a person's comprehensive quality, the first thing you need to improve is the conditions caused by the environment. An environment with a strong artistic atmosphere is easy to stimulate people's vitality and imagination. There is no doubt that anyone who changes will be affected. Everyone here is a person with artistic expertise, and the mutual communication between arts helps to improve together. Although we often say that there is specialization in the arts, I personally think that art should influence and collide with each other. After all, art is also included in the category of art. Is there any reason not to be moved by sister art? Therefore, I have never rejected the surrounding artistic environment, but actively and enthusiastically integrated into it and slowly felt it. Whenever there is a performance or concert at school, I will go to see it. Every time I watch it, I feel different. It is a kind of edification, which is definitely meaningful to my painting.
Famous teacher teaching
I studied Chinese painting in Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, mainly studying art theory and China's heavy color painting. My tutor is a disciple of Ye, a modern painter of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. My theoretical research objects mainly include,, Liu Dawei,,, Mei Mosheng, Yuan Yunfu, Wang, Lu Yunsuo, Li Kuizheng, Zhang Rongqing and Chen Shouxiang. Tang Chenghua, Chen Zi, Gao Xinfeng and other famous teachers give lectures. Every painter has different theoretical views on the research and innovation of Chinese painting, which can be described as a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend. Through the teaching of so many famous teachers, I personally think that the essence of Chinese painting art is nationality and inheritance, and pen and ink are still the main characteristics of interpreting the connotation of Chinese painting. Although heavy color painting does not require much ink, it also enriches the creative techniques and material innovation of Chinese painting on the basis of ink. Some tutors think that Chinese painting should be changed, but it has always been called Chinese painting. No matter how you change it, you can't escape the pen and ink theory. Breaking the "pen and ink theory" only broadens the interpretation scope of Chinese painting on the basis of tradition and shows the inherent tolerance of Chinese painting. It is still called Chinese painting. The vitality of art lies in innovation, and there is only one main line of innovation, which is the change.
With regard to the appreciation and reference of Japanese painting, I personally think that Japan has indeed preserved the lost part of traditional painting for us, but only a small part. This part does not affect the inheritance and development of Chinese painting at all, but only provides us with some evidence on the road of development. Japanese paintings can be used for reference, but they are not worth learning, because they learned from us from the beginning. There is no right or wrong in art, there are standards but no boundaries, inheritance needs to be broken, learning needs to be subverted, and breakthroughs need to be found in trade-offs and contradictions. Artistic accomplishment needs theory and practice, and artists need talent to achieve it. This is a congenital factor, not an acquired result. For people with artistic talent, the road to art will be wider and wider, on the contrary, it will be narrower and narrower. Only those who love art can truly appreciate the inner happiness that art brings to them.
Quotations of life
I am a person living in an ideal and perfect world. Some people say that I am not divorced, some people say that I am inarticulate and maverick, and some people say that I am too obsessed with living for painting. I said, you don't know me yet.
There will be many regrets and misfortunes in life. Only by painting can we forget our troubles and complete our happiness in the struggle between fantasy and reality.
Man is the most complicated animal in the world. I seldom draw people unless I can't help myself.
I never paint self-portraits because I haven't fully understood myself.
So far, I have only done two things, life and painting.
Some people say that I am not like a painter, and painters have long hair. I said that my hair has never been shorter than my eyebrows.
Friends say painting doesn't make money. I said that nothing you bought is worth painting.
Anyone who becomes a master is basically not recognized by experts at first.
I don't want to be Van Gogh, because there is only one Van Gogh.
Some people like to complicate simple things and simplify complex things. The biggest obstacle to art is to think too much.
Someone asked me, if you were given another chance, would you still paint? I said, there is no if.
interview
Bao Bo Artists Network: Can you talk about how you understand the traditional culture of China in your works?
Hua Chaofeng: China's traditional culture is extensive and profound, with a rich origin. It will have an important impact on my current Chinese painting study and creation, especially after I have studied the theory of Chinese painting. For example, the six methods mentioned in Chinese painting are "vivid charm, vivid brushwork, pictographic images, color conformity, business position, vivid expression and imitation". And the criteria for judging Chinese painting and so on. Are obviously different from western culture, which is the charm of traditional culture. China's traditional culture has a far-reaching influence on Chinese painting. Without traditional culture, Chinese painting is difficult to develop. Therefore, in my works, I have never been divorced from China's traditional culture and traditional painting methods. Only by inheriting can we innovate, and without traditional culture will it become passive water.
Do you think the modern art education in China lacks the education of traditional culture?
Hua Chaofeng: Yes, there are some shortcomings. I seldom take traditional culture classes during my study, even a few history classes. Nowadays, students seem to be less interested in tradition, let alone traditional culture. I know that there are more children who like coke than tea. This is not the lack of education, but the lack of awareness of national traditional culture in the whole society.
How do you choose individual "symbols" in your works? Why did you choose this symbol as the basic element of creation?
Hua Chaofeng: The personality symbol in my works is to inherit the tradition and pursue nature. The work is the expression of the author's mind. What kind of personality do you draw? You don't have to pursue it. Let nature take its course is the best expression of art.
Have you created any new works recently? If so, what are their themes?
Hua Chaofeng: Yes, I have been creating meticulous flowers and birds recently to prepare for the next publication and exhibition.
How to treat the relationship between theme creation and exercise?
Hua Chaofeng: Homework is the basis of theme creation. Any kind of theme creation is completed on the basis of a lot of homework. Creation is the sublimation of homework. The two are inseparable and indispensable.
In the history of China's classical painting, the artistic expression of "holding on to things and seeing ambition" can be seen everywhere in the practice of landscape flower-and-bird painting? How do you evaluate your artistic practice?
Hua Chaofeng: I have been painting for many years, and I have basically tried painting with various themes. Every painting with a theme is an artistic practice of something. Raise flowers and birds when painting flowers and birds, and sketch from mountains and rivers when painting landscapes. This is a formal practice. Holding things to express my will is also relying on things to express my will, making it more perfect and more infectious. It is an indirect expression of thoughts and wishes, and artistic creation lies in practice.
Artistic viewpoint
Bao Bo Artists Network: As a national high-level performing arts center, the National Centre for the Performing Arts will hold a painting art exhibition to let the public know the role and relationship between sister arts. In your opinion, what aspects should we strengthen the popularization of popular art in China now? Do you have any specific suggestions?
Hua Chaofeng: Isn't it the right place to hold an art exhibition at the National Grand Theatre? We all know that the theater is a place for theatrical performances. All the hardware and software facilities are designed around the stage performance, and there is no design consideration for the function of the art museum. The relationship between sister arts is not a simple act in form. Art itself is far from the public, and elegant art is not understood and accepted by the public. It is unrealistic for the public to understand the relationship between various arts. At present, our mass aesthetics has not yet reached the level of moderately developed countries, for the simple reason that our education has not kept up. Art education and quality education are synchronized. If quality education fails, there is no need to talk about art education too early. The idea of popularizing art education is very good, but it is difficult to realize. Looking at China's national conditions, we have a long way to go at present.
Bao Bo Artists Network: Is your painting process a kind of spiritual self-adjustment and self-need?
Hua Chaofeng: It can also be said that art serves the soul, and the process of painting is the process of serving the soul. In this process, we are always looking for spiritual comfort and balance. If we can't realize the self-adjustment of the soul and meet our spiritual needs in this process, it will be very painful. The painting process is only the leading product of ideology, which determines it from beginning to end. The reason for drawing is because we want to draw. The reason why I want to paint is because there is demand in my self-consciousness, and there will be desire if there is demand. Driven by desire, we need the comfort of thoughts and hearts.
Bao Bo Artists Network: What is the position of pure ink art in your art? What do you think of the art of ink painting?
Hua Chaofeng: There is no doubt that the art of ink painting is mainly accomplished by water and ink. The art of pure ink painting should originate from the characteristics of China's early ink painting, that is, painting only with water and ink color, and the finished product effect is both ink color change and water rhyme. This is also my initial understanding of ink painting. However, with the development and continuous innovation of art, ink painting has new and more forms of expression, and has a new interpretation in materials and techniques. Subjectively, we seem to deviate from the characteristics of traditional ink painting, but objectively, we have given ink painting a new life. Art lies in innovation, and innovation means difference. It's different from the previous ink painting. Is it still called Chinese painting? This question is difficult to answer, and the word "pure" has become particularly precious at present.
Bao Bo Artists Network: How do you think art has changed your life? Can art change life?
Hua Chaofeng: Art can't change all our lives, but it can change a part of our lives. The characteristics and functions of art directly affect people's hearts. People's hearts are "artistic" and life will change. Art is also a delicate process. As long as we love art and get close to it, our life will be beautiful because of it.
Life course
1978 Hua Chaofeng was born in an ordinary family in Yuanshi County, Hebei Province. He has been fond of painting since he was a child, and "scribbling" in books is the deepest memory of his childhood. Hua Chaofeng's childhood was as lively and active as all children. At that time, no one cared that he liked painting, and he didn't feel anything special. Whenever he has time, he paints alone. When he saw books and calendars with pictures, he bought them to take pictures and learned to draw everything.
In this way, in less than a year, almost everyone who knew him knew that he could draw. By the sixth grade, he had painted very well. Students often ask him to paint, and some people come to his house in person because they see pictures hanging on his wall.
It's time to go to middle school. Then the teacher knew that he was obsessed with painting, so he found his father. Later, the principal also talked about it. Father is in a dilemma about this matter, and he doesn't know whether to criticize or encourage it.
Every Spring Festival, he goes to my uncle's house with his father. My father and uncle talked about his paintings and asked him for advice. My uncle suggested sending him to a special school.
After listening to my uncle's advice, my father decided to send him to this school.
So he entered the only professional school in the county. Hua Chaofeng is 14 years old this year.
Since he came to this school, his childhood has ended. At first, he didn't adapt to the environment here, but fortunately, he had painting classes every day, which made him willing to stay here.
A year later, Hua Chaofeng's painting achievements attracted the attention of the teacher, and he gradually became the ideal here.
1995, Hua Chaofeng entered the art school, with the first professional achievement in the county.
In the first year of art school, I won a scholarship for the first place in my major.
From 65438 to 0999, he applied for the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, but because of the family burden, he chose to give up this opportunity for further study.
Then he came to Beijing and signed a contract with a Korean oil painting company, which was his first painting-related job in Beijing.
In 2002, he signed a contract with another Korean art company, and his works were provided to American galleries. After that, he spent more than three years creating oil paintings for this gallery.
After 2005, he began to auction his works and sold many oil paintings, which attracted great attention and actively participated in various charity auctions and exhibitions. In 2007, he began to create Chinese paintings. In 2009, he studied heavy color painting in Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts and published a personal painting collection.
