Responsible for the national basic education (including preschool education), special education, vocational and technical education, after-school education, adult education and higher education (including running schools by social forces), and coordinate, guide and supervise the education work of all districts, counties (countries) and relevant departments.

Responsible for the construction of the national team of teachers and education administrative cadres, and responsible for the qualification certification of primary and secondary school principals; Participate in the formulation of relevant policies and rules and regulations on personnel management in the national education system; Guide the reform of education and personnel system, and organize the implementation of employment distribution for graduates of normal universities.

Responsible for the management of national academic education and examination work. Work with relevant departments to study and formulate enrollment plans for schools of all levels and types throughout the country. Responsible for continuing education, adult self-study exams, and eliminating illiteracy among young people.
