Dance professionals summarize the characteristics of Jiaozhou Yangko as "the organic cooperation of twisting feet, waist, forearm around the' 8', pushing hands and turning wrists". The key to the formation of this movement law lies in the flexible twisting of the heel and the elasticity of the sole of the foot, which is related to the fact that actors used to wear "seesaws" to imitate women's foot-binding gait. After the seesaw was abolished, this movement was preserved in the dance.
Jiaozhou Yangko drives the body to twist by twisting, grinding, stretching and toughening at the foot, forming the basic posture of "three bends". Old artists usually use "light lifting, fluttering and twisting the waist" to describe the rhythm and style of Jiaozhou Yangko.
Jiaozhou Yangko is one of the three major Yangko in Shandong Province, which is a combination of dance and drama. Generally speaking, the performance is divided into two parts: running a big field and a small drama. Running a big venue is mainly in the form of yangko, and small plays are specially performed. There is no internal connection between them except the same clothing.
