Why should China's educational philosophy be changed?
The stubborn tendency of taking scores and enrollment rate (and studying abroad) as the main values of educational evaluation is still widespread and deeply rooted! Originally, the most important function of education should be to cultivate children's self-study ability, independent thinking and practical ability, creative ability, tap children's potential possibilities, and cultivate children's noble moral quality and excellent psychological quality through teaching and all school activities. But these are often diluted by the overwhelming score scale and enrollment rate. Give a real example. If a teacher who is rated as a national model class teacher because of her high enrollment rate is dissatisfied and disgusted with 90% of the students in her class, how should she evaluate this incident? As a matter of fact, this teacher successfully passed the assessment of leaders at all levels, not only won the national honor, but also was touted by all the media and admired by many parents. According to the scientific educational concept, this teacher is not qualified to be a head teacher. This model student teacher can train students admitted to ordinary universities or key universities with great pressure and training intensity, but it may not be able to train truly excellent, talented and creative people, which is very harmful to the future of the Chinese nation in the long run. Similar examples abound in our educational evaluation of students, schools and teachers. Some key middle schools recruit students with good homework. The high proportion of students admitted to a higher level school after graduation is not necessarily because the school has done particularly well. The universal worship of such schools in society is also a manifestation of believing in an unscientific educational concept. Every day, the advanced model of publicity and praise in the media inadvertently promotes an educational concept, such as what science is like and what educational goals we are pursuing. China's educational philosophy requires students to have basic learning requirements set by strict standards, which is not a bad thing. To some extent, this is the advantage of education in China. But we should also learn from other people's experiences and practices. "Stones from other mountains can attack jade!" What we need to reflect on is milk. To establish a correct educational concept, we should not only stand at the overall height of China and the whole world, but also have a broad vision for a hundred years and a thousand years. "Educating people for a hundred years" refers to this important long-term perspective. Our talent value scale should be in line with internationally recognized standards and should be revised in the long run. What China's civilization is really proud of is not the unification of Qin Shihuang, but the Warring States Period, where a hundred schools of thought contend and a hundred flowers blossom. To some extent, Chinese civilization can be called Warring States civilization. In a short period of more than 200 years, a large number of creative figures, such as stars shining in the sky, have created almost all the great ideas and concepts of the Chinese nation. Only Athens in Greece and the Renaissance in the West can compare with this. The greatness of the Chinese nation was laid by creative ancestors in the Warring States period and other times. The rejuvenation of the great motherland must also rely on a large number of talents full of creative passion and vitality. Our economic construction has made great achievements universally recognized, and the people of China are proud of their intelligence. However, our key technologies, such as electronic technology and automobile industry, still depend on foreign countries. If our education can only cultivate intelligent people who eat people, it is only an illusion to really revitalize China. China people can never be proud that they are good at imitating the image of the world. The reason why Chinese civilization has been respected all over the world so far must be based on its great creativity. In a word, we must renew our educational concept and give priority to the cultivation of psychological quality, self-study ability, independent thinking and practical ability and creativity. In the long run, we can truly be invincible in the forest of world powers. In class, we also talk about Newton's three laws and Einstein's theory of relativity. Some teachers can make students realize one-tenth of them, and some students can even achieve three-tenths under the inspiration of teachers. In other words, it is much more brilliant and difficult to let students participate in creation in the learning process than to teach students all the knowledge and get high marks but exclude students' own creativity in learning. Confucius has long advocated "drawing inferences from others", but this fine tradition of emphasizing students' creative learning has unfortunately been largely forgotten by us. While doing a good job in course teaching, the school gives students a broad world to fully develop their interests and hobbies, so that students can gain more extensive knowledge from book learning, discussion and debate, thus broadening their horizons and exerting their originality. This is an important value measure for evaluating school work. For teachers, it is more important to have good self-study habits and abilities and strong creative pursuit and creativity than to have solid knowledge and rich teaching experience. Our students are faced with unified teaching requirements, unified teaching materials and unified examination questions. But students' personalities are very different. "Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude" requires frequent exchanges of individual knowledge and souls between teachers and students, in which students' independent thinking ability and creativity are stimulated. This is much more difficult than improving the exam results of the whole class. I think: how much we need the leaders of education departments at all levels and the media to correctly praise and publicize such teachers. Of course, the class size should be reduced appropriately. It is difficult for a teacher to have the energy to communicate with so many students alone when facing sixty or seventy students. In short, efforts should be made to gradually change the educational concept of exam first, score first, knowledge first and further education first into the educational concept of cultivating students' excellent psychological quality, excellent self-study ability, excellent independent thinking and practical ability and strong creative pursuit spirit.
