The school's predecessor was Maanshan Iron and Steel Industry School, which was founded in 1958. 1977, Maanshan iron and steel institute was established with the approval of the State Council. 1985 was renamed East China Institute of Metallurgy, which belonged to the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry; From 65438 to 0998, it was placed in Anhui Province, and the management system of "joint construction by the central and local governments and key management in Anhui Province" was implemented. In 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Anhui Provincial People's Government, East China Metallurgy College and Anhui Business School merged to form Anhui University of Technology.
