What does the left bank mean?
The left bank usually refers to the part of the French capital Paris located on the left bank of the Seine. Parisians call the north of the Seine the right bank, where there are many high-end department stores, boutiques and restaurants. The south of the Seine River is called the left bank, where there are many colleges and cultural and educational institutions, with young people in the majority and relatively cheap consumption. The so-called Latin quarter is located on the left bank.
