History of Shanghai People's University
Shanghai People's University Vocational and Technical College/KLOC-0 was established in June, 1998./KLOC-0 was approved by the Municipal Education Commission in June, 1999 for enrollment and diploma examination. In March 2003, it was formally established with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and was included in the national plan. It is a full-time general college with higher vocational education at the junior college level, with a three-year academic system. The College is located in Tang Zhen, Pudong New Area, near the beautiful Chuanyang River and Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park in the west. After nearly ten years of development, the scale of the college has been expanding, from 63 people in three majors in that year to five departments with international shipping and logistics as the main body. It covers 20 majors, including transportation, business tourism, applied technology, culture and education, and art, with nearly 3,000 students, and basically forms a talent training system focusing on higher vocational education and short-term training. At the same time, the conditions for running schools have been significantly improved, from the initial borrowing of school buildings for classes to a modern new campus with an area of 160 mu and a construction area of 60,000 square meters, including new teaching buildings, libraries, training centers, student dormitories and expert buildings. With the support of the Municipal Education Commission, the automobile training center project built by the college has created good teaching conditions for the practical teaching of automobile maintenance, applied electronics, mechatronics and other majors and the training of senior and middle-level workers in automobile maintenance.
