It is very convenient to use WordPress through WordPress background installation. It is very important that most of its functions can be completed in the background, and theme installation is one of them.
Open WordPress Background-Appearance-Theme-Add.
Then you can enter the WordPress theme library. You can select a category to preview the theme, or you can directly search for the desired theme. Most WordPress themes can be found here and can be used for free.
After finding the theme to install, just click the Install button to install the theme to WordPress site.
Finally, click the Enable button to switch to the new theme.
Installing themes in WordPress background is our most recommended method, especially for beginners, which is simple and will not cause problems.
Installing WordPress themes by uploading Although most themes can be installed directly in the background, sometimes some themes are not in the WordPress theme center, such as some paid themes and some open source themes of Github. At this time, we need to install them by uploading.
Uploading installation is similar to background installation, that is, opening WordPress background-Appearance-Theme-Add.
The difference is that this time you need to click the upload theme button.
Then click Select File to upload the downloaded theme installation package to the site, and click Install Now.
If there is a publicity similar to the following, it proves that the theme has been successfully installed. You can choose to enable it now or later.
Uploading themes is also one of our common ways to install themes, but we must make sure to download theme installation packages from trusted websites, such as WordPress official theme center and theme official website. Don't download topics from unknown sources.
Install the theme through pagoda panel or FTP. The two methods described above are normal installation methods of WordPress websites. Sometimes there will be some special situations, such as how to install the replacement theme when you can't log in to WordPress background. The following method is to install a new theme for WordPress by manipulating files and databases.
First, upload the theme installation package to the theme file directory of the website, which can be done by pagoda panel or FTP software. I will demonstrate it with the pagoda panel below.
Open the pagoda background, select the file and enter the theme directory. The path is generally/www/wwwroot/domain.com/WP-content/themes. For example, the WP theme station is/www/wwwroot/themeforwp.net/WP-content/themes.
Then click the upload button to upload the theme installation package to this directory.
After uploading, unzip the installation package to get the theme folder.
Usually, the theme folder will have the same name as the theme. For example, the theme folder I use is twentytwenty.
In this way, even if our theme is installed, it is still not enabled. At this time, there are two choices. If you can log in to the background, you can enable themes directly in theme management. If you can't log in to the WordPress background at present, you can modify the database activation theme.
