The top of the tower is crowned with a cross ridge, which is actually the deformation of the western bell tower. The wall of the building is made of bricks of the Ming city wall, and it is jointed with clear water. The wall is covered with vines. This building has now become a landmark of Nanjing University.

Together with the North Building, it forms the central axis of Jinling University campus, and other buildings are basically on both sides of this central axis. The library was built in 1936, designed by Yang Tingbao, an architect of Ji Tai Engineering Department, and built by Chen BenQ Construction Factory. The building area is 2626 square meters. Two floors above ground, one underground, reinforced concrete structure, rest peak, blue tile measuring surface, blue brick wall. The building plane is cross-shaped. The middle of the first floor is the main entrance, facing north, and on both sides are the office room for book editing and small reading room; In the middle of the second floor is the borrowing room, and on both sides are large reading rooms. The external treatment of the library is similar to that of several other buildings. After the completion of the library, it was proposed to name it "Wen Huai 'en Library" to commemorate Wen Huai 'en, vice president of Jinling University, who was killed by soldiers of the Northern Expeditionary Army who conquered Nanjing on March 24th, 927, and to build a bronze statue in front of the library. Buildings A and B have the same area as buildings C and D, with a construction area of 755 square meters. Wuji Geng Building has the same scale as Renxin Building, with a construction area of 65,438+0,685 square meters.
In addition to the above buildings, there is also a flagpole worth reading. 1In September, 934, the Japanese Embassy in China, separated from the wall of Jinling University, erected a steel flagpole, which was as high as the North Building of Jinling University. Teachers and students of Jinling University are angry when they look up at the dazzling sun flag every day. At the beginning of 10, more than 30 students from Jinda University proposed to erect a flagpole higher than the North Tower to show the inviolable spirit of the people of China. As soon as the initiative was issued, teachers and students responded immediately. Jinda, teachers and students of the affiliated middle school and alumni of Jinda donated money in succession. 1In August, 935, a steel flagpole with a cost of 1700 yuan was completed in the south of the school chapel. The flagpole is more than 40 meters high, and the flag flying high is more than three meters beyond the Peking University Building, and it also exceeds the adjacent sun flag. 1964, Nanjing University moved the flagpole to the south of the school playground because it built a teaching building on the south side of the chapel. Now this flagpole is well preserved, which has become an important witness of Nanjing people's anti-imperialism and patriotism.
