Since its establishment, the school has trained and owned a large number of earth scientists, trained a large number of outstanding talents with high moral character and exquisite business for China's socialist construction, and has become the cradle of earth scientists training and an important base for earth science research in China. In the practice of running a school for more than 50 years, it has formed an excellent school spirit of "hard work, strict modesty, unity and liveliness, seeking truth from facts and pioneering spirit" and has become the vanguard of geological education in China. Of the more than 40,000 graduates who went abroad in China, 24 became academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, and more than 200 became model workers at or above the provincial and ministerial levels. In March 2003, Wen Jiabao, an alumnus of our school, became the Prime Minister of the State Council, People's Republic of China (PRC).
