According to Shuowen, the educational institutions called "schools" in Xia Dynasty were "wooden prisoners" and "jiaosheng". The original intention is wooden instruments of torture, which is to correct people's mistakes and make them homophonic with teaching, that is, it contains the meaning of enlightenment. The extension and evolution of the significance of integrity and education make "school" gradually become a special form of education. Judging from the political, economic and cultural development in the middle and late summer, the general conditions for the emergence of schools have been met. Taking characters as an example, judging from the maturity of Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Shang Dynasty, Xia Dynasty had at least original Chinese characters. As a medium of education, writing makes it possible to make teaching materials to impart knowledge and skills. However, due to the records of schools in the Xia Dynasty, there is no evidence of archaeological unearthed cultural relics so far, and it is impossible to trace back the details of education in the Xia Dynasty in detail.
