From 2003 to 2006, he served as the director of the office of the Department of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education and the director of the Comprehensive Department. In 2007, he joined the leadership team of the Department of Basic Education, in charge of the Comprehensive Department and the School Management Office, responsible for comprehensive research and international projects on major issues of basic education, and concurrently served as the coordinator of UNESCO's Education for All. 1On October 20th, the Party Group of the Ministry of Education of the Communist Party of China decided to appoint Wang Dinghua as Director of the First Division of Basic Education.
