Real-name reporting refers to the behavior of informants using their real names to report and accuse party member, party organizations and administrative supervision objects of violations of discipline and law to the discipline inspection and supervision organs through letters, visits, telephone calls, faxes and emails. Real-name reporting should also provide accurate contact telephone number and mailing address, and joint reporting should specify the main contact person. Some provinces in China have formulated measures to encourage real-name reporting.
Article 6 of the Amendment (Draft) of the Administrative Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China stipulates that the supervisory organ shall accept the report according to law and reply to the real-name report; Keep confidential the matters reported, the acceptance of the report and the information related to the informant, and protect the lawful rights and interests of the informant.

The Supervision Department of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has established the websites of official website of the Ministry of Supervision, official website of the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention and reporting letters and visits, and set up the 12388 reporting telephone number at the central, provincial, municipal and county levels to receive reports from the masses. Pay attention to finding case clues from letters and visits, patrol supervision, ongoing cases, law enforcement supervision, supervision and inspection, special governance, public security law and cases transferred by audit institutions, as well as media and online public opinion.
Discipline inspection and supervision organs at all levels also pay close attention to the violations of laws and regulations of party member cadres exposed by the news media and the Internet, and have successively investigated and dealt with a number of cases of violations of laws and regulations. For example, the relevant discipline inspection and supervision organs have seriously investigated and dealt with cases such as Yang Dacai, former director of Shaanxi Provincial Administration of Work Safety, and Cai Bin, former political commissar of Panyu Branch of Guangzhou Urban Management Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau, and responded to social concerns.
