1September 1978 to1July 1982 studied in the Archives Department of Renmin University of China, and obtained a bachelor's degree in history. Since July, he has been teaching in Sichuan University, 1982, 1988 as a lecturer, 1994 as an associate professor, 1997 as a master tutor, 2000 as a professor, and 20001as the vice president of the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University.

He used to be the deputy director of the Archival Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education (2005-), the director of China Archival Society (2004-), the director of the Secretarial Professional Committee of China Higher Education Society (2003-), the director of Sichuan Social Science Federation (2002-), the vice chairman of Sichuan Archival Society (2000-) and the vice chairman of Sichuan Secretary Society (2004-).
