What influence did Zhu have on education in the Southern Song Dynasty?
Zhu is the most famous Neo-Confucianist in the Southern Song Dynasty and the founder of Bailudong Academy, the earliest private college in China. The early printing of Zhu Shu shows that the private school education in the Southern Song Dynasty has been quite independent of the official school run by the imperial court, and the situation of learning in the official school no longer exists (unlike the private school run in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the masters in the private school in the Southern Song Dynasty are all masters of Confucian classics, and they all learn from one school, because the imperial examination system and the system of taking officials have restricted the basic content of education).
