Preschool education plays a very important role in the development of human life and the all-round development of society. Therefore, all countries have begun to pay extensive attention to the development of preschool education.

18 16, utopian socialist Owen established the world's first preschool school in Britain. After nearly 200 years of development, preschool education in Britain has formed many distinctive features, which are worth learning and learning from other countries. By using the methods of literature, description and comparison, this paper analyzes the related concepts of preschool education, preschool education and nursing institutions, traces the development history of preschool education in Britain for nearly 200 years, and systematically combs the development status of preschool education in Britain based on the "Early Basic Stage" plan implemented in September 2008, thus summarizing the development characteristics of preschool education in Britain and putting forward some enlightenment for the development of preschool education in China.

The text is divided into four parts. The first part, starting with the construction of the first preschool school in 18 16, analyzes the three stages of preschool education development in Britain according to the social and historical development process. The second part, based on the early basic stage plan, analyzes the development of preschool education in Britain from six aspects: policy framework, institutional setup, educational objectives and contents, teaching innovation, teacher allocation and training, and quality assurance. The third part, on the basis of the first two parts, summarizes the development characteristics of preschool education in Britain; Finally, according to the development characteristics of preschool education in Britain, some thoughts and suggestions are put forward to promote the development of preschool education in China.
