Most of the work of young reporters is news reports in primary and secondary schools. Most of the news facts interviewed are news events or stories that happened on campus. In order to know and serve the society, young journalists often organize themselves to go to social practice individually or collectively and report news events, new people, new things, new experiences and new practices.

Excellent young journalists must have high quality besides good ideological and moral quality, solid culture and basic journalism skills.

Starting purpose

The purpose of being a small reporter on campus is to better innovate the connection form between school education and off-campus education, to promote students to cultivate and practice socialist core values, to stimulate students' love for the party, the country and the people, to promote the full implementation of quality education, to innovate the talent training mode, to guide students to actively adapt to society, and to promote the deep integration of book knowledge and life experience.

From 2065438 to May 2005, with the strong support of local education bureaus, sports bureaus, health and wellness committees, committees concerned with the next generation, the Communist Youth League, women's federations and other relevant departments, the activities of young journalists were successfully carried out in more than 20 provinces and cities (municipalities directly under the central government) such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Xiong 'an, Jilin, Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Guangdong and Hunan. And set up organizing committees for campus small reporters in many places.
