College students are the hope of the country and the nation, shouldering the people's trust and historical responsibility. With the deepening of reform and opening up and the rapid development of socialist market economy, people's living standards have improved significantly. However, the contradiction between the people's growing material and cultural needs and the current underdeveloped social productive forces has not intensified, and the values of college students have also undergone profound changes. Nowadays, college students are a new generation growing up with the process of reform and opening up. They are basically born in the 1980s and 1990s, and they have a strong desire to express themselves and participate. Although their ideological mainstream presents a positive attitude, they are a group with knowledge, brains, personality and ability to live, but there are still quite a few serious problems in their ideological and moral cultivation. Mainly in the following seven aspects:

1. The cognitive level of social ideology is low. This is mainly manifested in the lack of firmness in the lofty ideals of communism, the lack of faith, and some utilitarian tendencies in political orientation. On the one hand, some students regard politics as an objective condition for their growth, on the other hand, they don't want to take social responsibility, and their utilitarian tendency is obvious. 2. Values often benefit. This is mainly manifested in the fact that contemporary college students pay more attention to practical interests, oppose the pursuit of personal value and social dedication, and the requirements for dedication and unity are decreasing. In the process of pursuing life, some college students often value material interests over selfless dedication, money interests over ideal pursuit, equal exchange over love, and personal interests over national collective interests. They think that human nature is selfish, and they will naturally choose individualism as their own criterion. Therefore, whenever, wherever and whatever happens to them, they always put their personal interests above national interests and collective interests. Others regard the relationship between people as the relationship of equivalent exchange or the chips and conditions of interest exchange. They feel that there are no eternal friends and enemies in this world, only eternal interests. Today's friends may become tomorrow's enemies, and today's enemies may also become tomorrow's friends. Everything is determined by interests and everything is changed by interests. In the choice of values, contemporary college students should emphasize self-reliance and consideration for others. However, the behavior of some college students is driven by realistic interests, and they strive for and safeguard their own interests excessively. This kind of behavior and values, which take ensuring one's own interests as the primary task and ignore social public interests, do not meet the requirements of the socialist core value system and violate the socialist ideological and moral cultivation education standards.

Third, the ability to practice public morality is weak. Most modern college students have a strong sense of social morality and social responsibility. But at the same time, their ability to practice public morality is also very weak, their requirements and supervision of moral behavior are not strict, their self-care and self-reliance are poor, their ideological dependence is serious, their labor concept is weak, and their labor ability is poor. According to the survey, many college students donate money to poor areas, poor students and disaster areas. For example, after the 5. 12 Wenchuan earthquake, college students enthusiastically donated money. Only the students from Wuhan College of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law donated 65,438+10,000 yuan to the disaster area, and also took the initiative to take care of the elderly in the community. More than half of the students choose not to report. From this perspective, they can't correctly understand the true meaning of friendship and morality, which also determines that their ability to practice public morality can't be very strong.

4. The ideals and beliefs are not firm. Some college students are full of infinite yearning for the university and confidence in their ideals and life pursuit before they just step into the university gate. However, after entering the university, with the continuous growth of age, they are facing greater pressure in all aspects. So many people are defeated by all kinds of setbacks in reality. They think that receiving higher education is not necessarily a good way out, and studying honestly and quietly has no future. So they are tired of learning and even avoid learning. For example, some college students lose confidence in life and are not interested in learning. In order to cope with teachers and exams, some people copy other people's homework and cheat in exams, wasting their good time on dressing up, comparing, forming gangs, puppy love, idolizing and so on, thus neglecting their studies.

5. The recognition of traditional virtues has declined. With the continuous improvement of social living standards, some students think that "helping others is out of date" and "hard work and thrift are no longer suitable for the development of market economy", especially many rich people who spend money like water and have a poor lifestyle. A small number of college students do not consider their own economic affordability, and pursue advanced consumption, such as vanity, showing off, wearing famous brands, comparing with others, and pursuing high-end consumption. Some students regard high consumption as a style of work and a manifestation of personal value, which leads to such unhealthy phenomena as different thoughts and deeds, spending money lavishly, often calling their parents for money, and even borrowing money everywhere. Some students have also embarked on the road of stealing and other illegal crimes. According to the statistics of relevant departments, the number of crimes committed by college students is rising, and the number of theft cases exceeds 90%.

6. The idea of being free and loose is serious. There is also a kind of bad atmosphere of freedom and idleness among contemporary college students. Talk casually in class, be late and leave early or even skip class. The appearance and spread of these phenomena are thought-provoking. Today, when we advocate discipline and honesty, it is worthy of our serious reflection on how contemporary college students should restrain their words and deeds. People who don't have organizational discipline will bring a loose lifestyle into their work and study, which will lead to uncoordinated cooperation with others, bring great inconvenience to others' work and life, and greatly reduce their work efficiency.

7. The negative impact of the network is great. The main channels for contemporary college students to obtain external information are the Internet and other news media. In the campus life with the popularization of the Internet, college students are impacted and infected by rapidly updated ideas and knowledge. From books, newspapers, television, to the virtual world, all kinds of media present the most common and unfiltered information, and contemporary college students often accept this information without reservation, which leads to many adverse consequences, such as indulging in unrealistic infatuation and fantasy of idols and falling into the quagmire of online games and virtual worlds. This is a responsibility that the whole society should pay close attention to and share.

College counselors play an important role in college students' ideological and moral education. Counselors are workers, organizers and instructors of students' daily ideological and political education and management. Counselors work in the front line of ideological and political education for college students, and daily ideological and political education is mainly organized, implemented and guided by them.
