There was no doubt that we should choose international education before, but only when we learned the specific situation did we find that there were so many concerns.
1, IB courses are divided into three types: early IB course PYP, mid-term IB course MYP, and advanced IB course IBDP, and IB diplomas can only be awarded after completing advanced IB courses. The whole IB course, including PYP in primary schools, is completely different from that in China. Metaphorically, I don't know if it's accurate. If we take the exam, it's the same subject, but it's completely different textbooks, so it's very confusing. Besides, the pattern of PYP is completely different. My feeling is that it is not listening and memorizing knowledge, but exploring and discovering, so the knowledge base will definitely be relatively weak, and the strong thing is to draw conclusions about things and emphasize the way of thinking and practical ability.
There is only one way for international schools to choose IB, that is, to go abroad and not to take the college entrance examination. Children who go abroad will know less about China. If the child is not as capable as you expected and you can't provide a big platform. At this time, the lack of understanding of the national conditions may limit the development of children at home, and the development abroad is even more uncontrollable. Although there are risks, at home, everyone will have some ideas, right? You know what to do and what not to do, and how to deal with things with China characteristics. Of course, foreign countries are better than foreign countries. I just feel that there is no way out and I am worried.
3. Even if you can get into China, you may fail to get into the domestic children. Similarly, children in IB courses may only know English. Last time I watched TV, an international school 12-year-old child answered the host's question in Chinese, but mentioned what he had learned in a school. I want to say it in Chinese, but I don't know how. I just said "water? Circle ",a look at my parents, her parents remind" water cycle ". I wonder if children don't have any feelings about China's good traditions, such as poetry, under IB course? Choosing an international school is to have a better ability to use knowledge and solve problems, not to do problems, but it is really a bit unwilling to let children accidentally become "foreign devils."
4. If you accept compulsory teaching in China and lay a good foundation (such as mathematics foundation and Chinese foundation) before going to IB, you can't keep up at all. "IB is not suitable for students who enter the system after the senior high school entrance examination and students with poor English foundation. The IB course has a large amount of writing and high foreign language requirements. " And I heard that IB course is very demanding. "Why do you think IB is terrible? The IB course is known as the king of international courses. As an international diploma course, the IB course does not belong to the high school curriculum of any country, so it is highly recognized and naturally difficult. " What should I do if my child can't learn well after learning? There is no way out?
It seems that it is a perfect solution to go to domestic schools, improve English as much as possible, and then go abroad to study in high school or university. So, this child is actually the result of China's systematic teaching. But family education ... is really tangled. Or go all the way to the end, and domestic universities will complete it. But looking at our recent college entrance examination composition questions, the tone still stays in childhood, and the progress is really slow. Just like today's cartoons, we abandoned the innocence of our childhood, lost the appeal of innovation, and let our children watch Bears and Happy. I'd rather the children watch "Nine-color Deer" and "Two Generations of Love".
