Too many women tell me how interested they are in careers and majors. They know they will do well, and they know they will be perfect.
Not surprising.
Most girls are educated to avoid risks and failures.
We are taught to have a beautiful smile,
Don't take any chances. Get a straight a in this course. Boys, on the other hand,
Educated to be braver and pursue higher goals,
Climb to the top of the horizontal bar and jump.
When they grow up,
Whether it's negotiating a raise or asking someone out,
They are used to accepting one challenge after another.
They are also rewarded for this.
There is a saying in Silicon Valley,
No one will take you seriously unless you fail to start a business more than twice.
In other words,
We educate girls to pursue perfection and we educate boys to be brave. Some people are worried about our federal deficit, but I am worried about our courage deficit. Our economy, our society, we are suffering losses,
Because we didn't teach girls to be brave.
Too many female friends told me,
"I dare not speak, I dare not ask questions, because I don't want to be the only one who doesn't understand, the only one who is entangled. When we teach girls to be brave
We need a support system to encourage them,
They will have great achievements,
We need to adapt girls to imperfect habits,
We should do this from now on.
We can't wait for them to learn to be brave.
Just like when I was 33.
We should teach them to be brave at school.
At the beginning of my career,
Will affect their lives and those of others.
Important period,
Let them know they will be loved and accepted.
Not because of perfection.
But because of courage.
