(1) Win the championship with a dustpan-truly love each other, but pay more attention to love.
In Shanxi, there is a story of "winning the championship with a dustpan". It is said that in order to find a successor, Yao visited talents all over the world. He happened to see Shun ploughing a cow in the field. When the cow didn't leave, he didn't drive it away with a whip, but knocked the dustpan hanging on the plow. When the cow hears the sound of the whip, it will move on. Yao thought that Shun had both benevolence and wisdom, and he would love the people and rule the country, so he thought. Although this is not quite consistent with other records, "Shun plowed the field, the cow didn't leave, Shun whipped himself, and didn't blame the cow", which means that Shun couldn't bear to beat the cow, but beat himself with a whip. But I prefer to believe this story. It is wiser and more reasonable to knock on a dustpan than to beat myself.
To educate children, we must first love them from the heart, love them but don't spoil them, just like the cows who plow the fields are lazy, we still have to push them. But love is more important to know how to love, how to love wisely, and how to love effectively. For a kind and wise person like Shun, love doesn't have to be whipped. What is important is how to play a vigilant role.
Because of love, we will continue to explore better educational methods. Tao Xingzhi's four sweet stories are worth learning. He saw a male classmate fighting, and instead of reprimanding him, he rewarded him with four pieces of candy to make him realize his mistake on his own initiative. One rewards him for punctuality, two rewards him for respecting the teacher, three rewards him for being fair and four rewards him for correcting his mistakes. The four sweets made the child deeply realize his mistake and shed tears with guilt and emotion.
Education needs to be spurred, respected, trusted, and touched the depths of the soul to be truly effective.
Love needs tolerance, how can we not make mistakes on the road of growth and guide children to know their own mistakes;
Love needs warmth. The story of the race between the sun and the north wind tells us that the sun is more powerful than the north wind and makes children live happily in the sun.
Love needs wisdom, ingenious methods are more powerful than preaching over and over again, and the way of love is more important than the ability to love.
(2) Play the lute to a cow-only by fully understanding can we carry out targeted education.
It is recorded in Mourong's Theory of Reason and Confusion in Han Dynasty that in ancient times there was a man named Gong who played an elegant tune for the cow, but the cow was as indifferent as before. So the palace used the harp to imitate the calls of mosquitoes and calves. The cow wagged its tail and pricked up its ears. Later, people used casting pearls before swine to describe that it is not advisable to speak without looking at the object.
This story is worth pondering by parents and teachers. Gong played an elegant piece of music, which I have never heard before, so I naturally don't understand it. Later, when talking to the cow about the piano in the voice of mosquitoes and calves, it was a voice that the cow could understand, and the cow naturally responded.
The same is true of reasoning or teaching children. You should first fully understand the basic situation of the child, especially his acceptance and personality characteristics. A child's understanding and acceptance are different at different ages. Even children of the same age have different levels of understanding and acceptance. Therefore, we must have a full understanding of education before we can adjust our educational methods and teach students in accordance with their aptitude.
Confucius said that there is no class distinction in teaching, and targeted education should be carried out according to the characteristics of different children. Lutz and You Ran once asked Confucius the same question: Should they do it as soon as they hear a good idea?
Confucius gave the opposite answer to these two men. He said to You Ran, "Si Wen will do it." Do it as soon as you hear it.
He said to Luz, "If you have a father and a brother, how can you smell it?" How can I do it all at once with my father and brother around? I should ask their advice first.
The reason why there is such a diametrically opposite answer is because Confucius understood that Ran was modest and hesitant, so he encouraged him to do it at once and strive for strength, so he asked him to listen to other people's opinions more in advance and think twice before acting.
Therefore, understanding is the premise of education and the most basic thing to do first. Understand the characteristics of children and speak in a way that children can understand and love to hear.
(3) Know the cow skillfully-study hard and constantly improve the educational ability.
"Zhuangzi" records such a person who understands cattle. His skills are very skillful and he has reached a superb level, mainly because he can devote himself to studying the structure of cattle and follow the structural rules of his body. The same is true of teaching. Only by studying, mastering and following the teaching rules can we become an excellent teacher.
I've been practicing 19 years. The teacher's teaching is the same as that of the parents. I have to practice and polish again and again to be more skilled and mature. As time goes on, I get better and better. The process of education is also the process of our own continuous growth and progress. In this process, we can't just repeat it day after day, but learn to understand and learn like experts. Only in this way can we gradually master the laws of education and gradually improve education.
The growth and progress of children is our greatest happiness. I hope these three short stories can help your education, and I wish you and your children good luck in the Year of the Ox! Bull!
