Innovation of primary education
In recent years, Yassiri Weili Primary School has actively promoted the secondary school (LBD) curriculum. The teacher took the children out of the classroom, studied professional models in the community and explored nature in the park. After leaving the classroom, children learn more life knowledge and soft power, and teachers and students jointly add more colors to the learning process.

In recent years, learning by doing (LBD) experience courses have flourished in Hong Kong, which is sparsely populated. "Why is the school building so big and the community is the classroom?" Going outdoors and becoming a small urban adventurer is a daily course of LBD in Yasili Methodist Primary School in Hong Kong.

For example, teachers will take students to Lai Chi Kok Park, and search the park in the form of an expedition. Under the teacher's role as an exploration goalkeeper, after giving instructions, the children will look for answers separately.

Take a science class in a natural environment and jump out of the paper. Children find out different plants, creatures and park facilities, take photos, observe and record them on the list; There are symbols for eyes (seeing), nose (smelling) and ears (hearing) on the list, which is a sensory journey of ecological education. Children "break through obstacles" according to the instructions of exploration, and ask park cleaners or passers-by for help when they encounter checkpoints.

The curriculum of LBD will continue to develop. After the first-year students visited the park in person and recorded their own explorations, in order to give full play to the children, the curriculum group decided to create a creative space completely led by students. At this time, the children proposed to be their own 3D dreamland.

The blueprints of 3D Dreamland, such as theme setting, park facilities planning and division of labor, are all made by children themselves. After repeated discussion, design, production and revision, these little designers will publicly show their creative process and learning results on the first day of school.

On the occasion of Thanksgiving last year, the LBD Experience Integration Course was once again connected with the community, and a "Community Heroes Thanks Festival" was held to thank the police, firefighters and heroes from all walks of life (including retired people). They internalize and deepen their learning experience through various creative activities such as catwalk, small theater and future equipment. And created, summarized and displayed a series of childlike, diverse and rich learning achievements.

In addition, the school also has a period of "sitting with books" to promote static reading. Every Tuesday to Thursday, there is about half an hour of quiet time. Children can choose any corner of the campus, sit down, read, meditate and even be in a daze.

Principal Lin Deyu said: "There are some things that can't be learned in textbooks. He emphasized that in the past, education was concerned about academic performance, but some soft powers such as communication, critical thinking and creative thinking were very important, which were often not taught in the classroom. Therefore, of course, schools should provide such a learning environment, create a dynamic and static environment, and make children's learning rich both inside and outside the school.

In the future, the school plans to cooperate with different community organizations, community artists and social workers to explore more different possibilities for the course. The school also plans to cooperate with the textbook publishing house to launch the textbook of LBD experience integration course and share the practical experience of LBD course with all primary schools in Hong Kong.

From the classroom to the community and then to Hong Kong. Ashley Weili Primary School's road to innovation is getting farther and farther and more confident.
