The trapping of ungulates has always been a great threat to the survival of Siberian tigers, and there have been many cases of trapping or accidental injury. In order to crack down on illegal poaching and protect the Northeast Tiger and its prey, WCS has organized anti-poaching propaganda and set up clearing activities in important distribution areas of Northeast Tiger such as Heilongjiang and Jilin for many times since 2000. With the decrease of illegal hunting tools such as hunting sets and clips, the activity information of Siberian tigers in Hunchun area is also increasing. In order to strengthen anti-poaching law enforcement and wildlife resources monitoring, WCS took the lead in introducing the advanced MIST (Management Information System) law enforcement patrol system in Hunchun Nature Reserve, Jilin Province in 2008, and provided relevant software, technical training, equipment and financial support. Through systematic patrol, the managers of nature reserves can know the distribution and threats of Siberian tigers and their prey in time, reduce poaching and human interference, and make the wild protection of Siberian tigers in nature reserves reach a systematic and standardized level.
